Media Audio Controller

Hi there,

Ive read on these forums about media audio controller but didnt seem to know what to do, basically what ive done is reinstalled my PC with windows XP Pro. Everything works fine apart from have no sound, ive tried updating drivers for it and all i get is that yellow question mark. It says i need the cd to install it on, but i have no cd, it was worknig before i reinstalled Windows XP. It is a Dell Computer. The green light is on my speakers but no sound. How can i get media audio controller back online? as it says i have no sound device.

all i have in the audio and devices propeties hardware is videocodecs, audioecs, legacy audio drivers, media control devices, legacy video caputer devices. Can anyone help if they understand what im saying? lol

Danny

right click on the one that has the yellow mark next to it and choose, uninstall and say OK
once it is uninstalled close close all your open windows down properly then restart the computer.
On restart, windows will find driver for your sound card and intsll it. Your sound should work at this point. Post back, if working or not and then address that if nec.

biggsie agrees: Think we're on the same page -- just needs sound card drivers

Do you have a speaker icon in the task bar where clock is?

Right click on it and select Adjust Audio Properties

This opens -- Sound And Media Properties --Click

Audio Tab -- And make sure Playback and Record

Have the same Sound Card --- Ok now go to Start

Settings ---> Control Panel ----> System --->

In System Properties ---> Hardware Tab ---->

Device Manager ----> Sound,video game controllers

Click on your sound card -- Right click Properties

Select Drivers and click Uninstall -- Reboot Computer

now go to Start

Settings ---> Control Panel ----> System --->

In System Properties ---> Hardware Tab ---->

Device Manager ----> Sound,video game controllers

Click on your sound card -- Right click Properties

Select Drivers and click Install Drivers -- let

microsoft find drivers --- If this doesn"t work drop me a note

I want to help you but may not come back to this post

I am just trying to help someone else -- and have moved on
