Help me hear sound from my computer!

I have dell computer at work (windows XP) and would like to play CD's from the D drive. When I tried to play something I received a pop up that said "sound device may not be installed." I installed Real One and no longer have this problem, however there is still no sound.

When I go to the control panel and click 'sounds and multimedia' the volume is set at low. I cannot move the volume buttom from this position. The area is greyed over and won't let me act.

What do I do?

Thanks for the help.

Best,

>>>Marc

Re: Help me hear sound from my computer!

Do you hear any sound from realplayer?

If not, it's possible the volume controls have been locked. Unless you have admin access to the machine, you can't change that.

Re: Help me hear sound from my computer!

You will have to reinstall the sound drivers (located on a CD) that came with your PC. This should resolve your problem.

most likely since your at work your boss has put on all computer's the inability to play music, hense this would make you more productive. unless its your computer then you just might have to install the drivers again. or you do not have full administrator access.
