When you format, you lose everything, including the operating system.

The best way to get the OS back would be to just use the restore CD that came with the laptop. It will format the drive, and install the OS with all the drivers you need for everything that came with the laptop.

Since you say it's a business laptop, you might want to ask your IT department, if you have one.

I can just insert the restore CD right now and it will do all of that? I'm just asking because I don't have my Windows XP CD with me right now, so I don't want to delete everything, and not be able to use my computer.
