install from add/remove programs

Hi,
Since you haven't had an answer in 24 hours, I will offer this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...305548&sd=tech

It explains how to install a windows component, XP, using the Add/Remove Programs menu. When you get to what to add, click on "Accessories and Utilities"; hopefully, the mic will be there.
Since your error message said to use this path, you might try it again.
I am not absolutely sure this is the correct answer, but it's worth a try.
Good luck, and if it doesn't work, please post back.
