| During startup as the Dell logo appears the start hangs up During startup or a restart as the Dell logo appears the start hangs up before windows begins to load. The Dell logo changes to a picture similar to starting up an older computer that showed a system check during startup i.e. the screen lists the type computer, the BIOS version, type chip, checking NVRAM, keyboard detected, mouse detected, USB enabled, fixed disc, etc. and ends with "Press <DEL> to resume".
This started some time ago (do not remember exactly when) stopped for a brief time and then resumed. It is a nuisance since the start will not continue until I press <DEL>. After pressing <DEL> the start continues and the computer works normally.
I have a Dell desktop (purchased in 2000) with an Intel Pent. III and Windows XP Home Edition. Dell has no clue and suggested reloading Windows XP. Since this occurs before windows begins to load I do not believe reloading windows will help. Any ideas? |
