    corrupt file (extremely important files)
    Okay, so before slicking my computer and starting from afresh, I zip a massive 9 gigabyte folder into about 6 gigs. These files were things I needed very severely for my resumes, portfolios, class work, exams, projects, pictures videos... four years worth of programming code crapped away; you get the picture. I then transfer it to my home networked computer. Everything looks hunky doory. Except my idiot self doesn't confirm the transfer and open it up on the other computer to verify that everythings cool. Now both computers (the freshly slicked one and the home networked one) have a compressed folder with the following error code "The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted." Please tell me there's some DVD X-Rescue type software out there for zipped files. If so, where do I go to get it. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. I used winace by the way (PIECE OF CRAP!). I'm wondering if TCP/IP didn't screw this one up for me though.

    How different are the files sizes between the final zip and the corrupt file? And what did you use to compress the files?

    The original zip file has been wiped away when I reformated the computer. Both corrupt files are the same size on the two different computers. I used WinAce to zip the files.

    Have you tried using Winace to unzip the file? Or just windows native software. It could be that the compression this program uses is not recognised by winxp!

    it worked, man I feel stupid, lol... thanks for the help!

    kind of new to the zip seen, thought it was a standard compression, guess not!
