Teaching English as a Second Language

Hey all,

I have been interested in going to Japan to study martial arts for some time, but I just do not have the cash to do so. Recently, my brother heard about a program through Geos, I believe, which hooked you up with some extra training and a job in Japan. Unfortunately, the Geos program requires a Bachelors degree minimum, which I do not have, nor am I close to having it.

So I looked into some TESL courses. I figured that if I could get certified, than I might have a chance at landing a job without going through Geos. Though I have no degree in it I have an excellent grasp of the English language. I don't think that attaining certification for TESL would be terribly difficult for me.

My question: Anyone out there taught English in a foreign country? If so, can you offer me any advice on approaching the certification? Or even sharing your experiences would be great!

Thanks in advance!
