I have this clock i know nothing about?

i have this clock and i know nothing about it.
i've looked inside and it says
ansonia clock Co.
patented june 14. 81
new york usa
and then on the left hand side it says
patented june 18 1888 or 82 (slightly rubbed off so can't tell)
and on the right hand side it has the number 5

i am so confused, could you please tell me more.
it would also be useful to know how much its worth cause at the moment it's on my windowsill on the ground floor, so if it's of any value i really need to move it.
many thanks
liz

Don't know the worth of the clock but definitely suggest you move it away from the window for starters. Would suggest you contact a good antique furniture dealer who could tell you more. Sounds nice. Is it a good wood case? How big?

Looks like it could be worth something from the quick searches I made on the web.

I collect clocks and have at least 48 of them running in my home. Everything from a 2" mantel clock to a bunch of pendulum clocks to a clock that has bird calls every hour to 3 anniversary clocks. I guess you could say I'm clock crazy. And yes, daylight savings time is a pain in the patootie for me so I start a few days ahead.

You could click on the following searches to see if you can find items that are similar to it in order to get an idea as to how much it might be worth.

If it is an antique, then it would be best to keep it out of the way of the outside elements such as sunlight in order to maintain the patina and color of the original finish.
