can autos be shrink wrapped as are boats for winter storage?

Yes, although it's not strictly shrink wrapping as that would promoted damp. They can be put in a breathable cocoon and stored in a controlled environment.
There are several classic car storage companies around the wolrd that specialise in long term storage.
Check in the ads of a classic car magazine.
