Is License Plate from 1958 Mercedes Benz bought in Germany collectible? Value?

Actually, it was on a car a close friend and her husband bought at Singlefingen factory, drove thru Europe for a month and had it shipped home. The car was sold sveral years ago, but she just found the plates and wondered about putting them in a garage sale.
