I have a State of Alabama one dollar bill dated January 1863. It has No. 15839 or 15889 0n it. I would be interested in any information regardingthis item including value.

Jusbrzn-Here is some INFORMATION,on the STATE oonfederate money in the start of the confederet war between THE southern STATES AND THE NORTHERN STATES: THIS is going to include a little history in order to get a good clear unstanding of the part that ALABAMA played in the war and the monetary system that appeared and why;; #1- the note you have is a state confederate $1.00 note ,it was part of the first issue of there own money at the start of the war;;tThe first printing was for the first issue of {JAN.1/1863;; AKABAMA HAD NOT SUSCEDED from the north un till this first printing;; On JAN. 11,1861 a ordance of secession was addopted at MONTGOMERY ALA. And there were 61 delegartes that voted to secession and 39 against .ALABAMA thus became the eourth state to leave the union,and was a major center of activity ACTIVITY ,until VIRGINA SECEDED IN april ,1863 AND tHE state capitol of montgomenty, alabama BECAME THE captil of the { confederate states of america] the STATE OF alabama was readmitted to THE union on july 13,1868 #2- alabama DID NOT BEGAN TO ISSUE its OWN CONFEDERATE MONEY until 1863& WAS ISSUED FROM MONTGOMENTYAND WAS STATED ON THE MONEY on them ,THAT "THe state of alabama will pay (xxxx) to bearer, in confederate treasury notes when presented at the state treasury in sums of $20.00 AND up wards;; #3-A WILL FINISH THIS TONIGHT GOT TO GO FOR NOW,m, F.B.E.

Jusbrzn- SORRY but WE -had to go to get to church ; we are both in the quierand we have been having practace an hour before the church serves start IT was really wonderfulhad abig croud; OK NOW TO FINISH WHAT I didn't get to earlier;; This is #3B-
The notes of the first issue bear the printed signatures of "JOHN GILL SHOTER ( 1818) who was the governor of the state from AUG.1861 through DEC 1863. THERE is a picture For him on the front side on the left end;; each note bears a serial number and is hand numbered ;; and each of the notes are not printed on the back side;they are left blankalkl were engraved and printed by the branch of J.T.Patterson&co. In agusta GEORGIA #4- THE series of 1863was primarily of FRACTIONAL and intended to be a subutudefor the loss of us coins at the start of the war,they had disapeared from circulation ,these notesa were from five cents up to $1.00#6- now to the brass tacks;; ON the $1.00 note you have on the front side ,left end there is the picture of the ALABAMA state GOVENOR}IN THE CENTER OF THE NOTE ON THE FACE SIDE hasa picture of the stte capitalmap and tree lower righta black one in green black one in greenupper right ;; FIRST AND SECOND ISSUE Series both had small and large letters
