LISHA82- here is a little history on this bill (NOTE) { SIlver certificates were born under the " BLAND-ALLISON act of FEBRUARY 28, 1878 . The act of AUGUST 4 1886 authorized more silver certificates ,after which this class of note was made in very large quantities , includeing denominations of the $ 1.00 , $ 2.00 $ 5.00 .Vast quantities of silver dollars were put up in the treasury to cover each dollar of the siolver certificate. Then in 1918 , the PITTMAN ACT Provided melting down 350,000,000 of these silver dollars.;; When all these silver dollars were melted down , the united STATES GGOVERMENT HAD TO CALL IN ALL THE SILVER CERTIDFICATES THAT WERE OUT . To cover that loss in currency the GOV. issued short-term certificates of indeptedness bearing 2% interest . The SILVER DOLLARS NOW BEING MINTED , the new MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR OF 1921 ,allowed for the silver certificates to be issued again, which are being used for calling in those certificates of indeptedness. .
