    1928 siver dollar bill
    I just bought a 1923 "funny back" silver dollar bill for my boyfriend and I was curious to try to find out what it is worth maybe. I was reading descriptions of the grading and I'm thinking it is very good quality it has 1 noticeable crease on the front and on the back there's 2 noticeable it looks like + . Other than that its pretty nice. A11655132E is the number on it it has a blue seal on the left and a blue 1dollar on the right Regiser ot tresury is N.O. Woods and treaurer of united states is Frank White. It also has M on it. The back is green and it says THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ONE DOLLAR on it.

    I am going to try to put a pic on here I don't know if that's doable but I really need to get an idea I'm going to give it to him tomorrow for our 4 month anniversay.

    Thank you in advance for anyone who can help me

    LISHA82 - You did a great job on the pictures of the note . Now to give you what I found in the 2008 RED BOOK ON USA PAPER CURRENCY ,Without me actually seeing the note in person I will give you the closet VALUE that I can make out on the pictures AND the condition I believe it comes under.

    1923 - SILVERCERTIFICATE :: Blue seal
    Signatures are - Woods and White
    No.- 238 - VG-8 F-12 VF-20 EF-40
    $ 35.00 $ 40.00 $ 50.00 $ 55.00
    UNC-63
    $ 125.00 The most vaulable is # 239
    Signatures Are WOODS AND TATE
    BLUE SEAL ;; VALUES start at
    VG-8- $ 60.00 UNC-63- $ 500.00
    AS per the value of this note , The condition of it is as I can see the pictures of it AND look at The conditions that are on the post < ( 1.9) how do you grade the condition of paper money { THE way I figure this note is in pretty good condition and it would come under ( EF-40 or EF-45 :: IT might come under grade ( AU -50 or Au-55) WHAT WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IS ( Does it still have the SOME of the crispness of a new bill.
    VG- means VERY GOOD;; F-12 means FINE ;; EF-means EXTRA FINE-;; AU- means _- ABOUT UNCIRCULATED ,:: UNC - means UNCIRCULATED:: Then you have a number with these that showes what the grade of that one is :: Like - AU-50,Au-55;Au-58 ECT> ECT>
    LISHA82- here is a little history on this bill (NOTE) { SIlver certificates were born under the " BLAND-ALLISON act of FEBRUARY 28, 1878 . The act of AUGUST 4 1886 authorized more silver certificates ,after which this class of note was made in very large quantities , includeing denominations of the $ 1.00 , $ 2.00 $ 5.00 .Vast quantities of silver dollars were put up in the treasury to cover each dollar of the siolver certificate. Then in 1918 , the PITTMAN ACT Provided melting down 350,000,000 of these silver dollars.;; When all these silver dollars were melted down , the united STATES GGOVERMENT HAD TO CALL IN ALL THE SILVER CERTIDFICATES THAT WERE OUT . To cover that loss in currency the GOV. issued short-term certificates of indeptedness bearing 2% interest . The SILVER DOLLARS NOW BEING MINTED , the new MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR OF 1921 ,allowed for the silver certificates to be issued again, which are being used for calling in those certificates of indeptedness. . In the 1920's the silver certifuicates were issued only in the smaller denom
    inations In the silver certificates series tghe series of 1886 $ 1.00 bills depict MARTHA WASHINGTON , Series 1886 $ 5.00 showes on the reverse "FIVE SILVER DOLLARS all arranged in a tidy row . Series of 1899 $ 5.00 has a realistic portrait of an indian chief, The series of 1923 $ 5.00 has LINCOLN in a porthol{ surrounded by a heavy circular frame and The SERIES of 1886 $ 10.00 bill has the image of VICE PRESIDENT " THOMAS A> HENDRICKS " ( who died ion NOVember 25, 1885 ) in a distinctive frame, creating what is known today as the " TOMBSTONE NOTE " . This is only a fraction of the history on the SILVER CERTIFICATES , GO to libery and tell them you want to check out a book on UNITED STATES CURRENCY AND AT THE Beginning OF THE BOOK LOOK THREW THE PAGES AND IT WUILL TELL YOU WHATEVER YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT US PAPER MONEY < I hoppe I have helped you with your question , if you need more help come back and see us , Have a good day and GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.
