    1864 50 dollar bill
    I found an 1864 $50 dollar bill it is black print with redish color on front and blue on the back and made Feb. 17th 1864. Does this have any value or is it just a great peace to keep! I know nothing about collecting and am having trouble finding any answers. I greatly appreciate any answers thank you.

    It is a Confederate bill. Yes, it does have a monetary value. But, how much monetary value greatly depends on the condition of it. There is one listed on the following link as being monetarily valued at $105.00. But, that is for one that is in choice condition. So, that means that it is a really fine specimen.

    Do you know the condition of the one that you have?

    Kat231- When I realized that it had to be CONFEDERATE , money then I went to that part of the book :: NOW for your information ,I have this in my book and it may be of interest to you
    CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA:: 1864
    $2000,000,000 was authorizedby " ACT OF FEBRUARY 17TH 1864 " ALL NOTES OF THIS YEAR ARE DATED " FEB.17th, 1864."
    The actual amount issued was probably ten times the figure given above and the amount printed even greater. Thus there are many minor varieties of each type includding colar variations, flourishes, and more signature combinationsthen any other year. The authors list only the important types. The most common Confederate notes appear in this year.
    The one you have is a type -669 NOTE - FACE DESIGN _ Reddish network back ground . Intricate blue reverse with ' FIFTY" in large letters Pictured on it is ( JEFFERSON DAVIS>)

    I hope that what I have given you is OK , if you need more ,come back on the site and ask and we will try to help you more IF YYOU EVER WANT TO SELL LET ME KNOW! GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.

    Wow, thirty-six varieties! I wonder why? Was it because of something political going on?
