Yes it says in the bible that it is only wrong to use drugs and acohal to lose control of you body. Just think like your body is the lords temple and don't disrespect it. If I wasa you I would talk to your pastor for more help. Also look in the concordance of the bible its in the back and it tells you what pages talk about what... like drunkness etc.

I am unaware of anything in the bible that prohibits treatment for medical conditions including depression. I'd be careful with self-medication though - especially illegal 'medications.' There are examples of depression in the bible however, and this website lists some of those examples.

I would also tread carefully with suggestions that depression is merely "satanic oppression," "shows a lack of faith" or other such suggestions. People get depressed, there is no shame in having depression, it does not necessarily imply a lack of faith or oppression and it doesn't necessarily go away by prayer and/or pastoral counseling. If you feel you need professional help then by all means get professional help and don't listen to the naysayers.

I just read up on Marfan Syndrome, a genetic disease, and wonder, is your pain psychological-it didn't seen that this disease has much physical pain.

I would say it is always best to face reality, the reality of your situation with Marfan, so you aren't running away from yourself for your entire life. That is the only way to find peace with yourself.

To help with depression one must DO STUFF like sports hobbies friends work... be active.

There are people who would help you get started building a positive life for yourself. Good luck to you.

I go to browncroft church, I month or so ago we did a sermon on this. If you go to Home. Go to online sermons and find "i have a friend who..deals with depression." you can listen or download it for free.. you may have to go to sermon archives. Hope. Everything is possible through a true love for the lord. God bless

The Bible is fairly specific about intoxication, not specifically drugs. Cannabis is specifically mentioned in the Old Testament as an ingredient in the incense burned before the alter and that incense was not to be used for any other purpose. Depression is a form of fear and the Lord specifically tells us to fear not, so much prayer seeking the Lord to remove this spirit of fear

Others have askd about marijuana and the Bible.

Depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. My ex husband suffers from that kind of depression - it is genetic in his family in fact. So he requires medication. I am not saying prayer does not help. I have known people who have had that spirit lifted from them and have been made whole.

I respectfully disagree with Choux about the pain. There can be pain in the spine, the abdomen, upper and lower back, hands, and legs.

Speak to your doctor about the depression. Also go and speak to your pastor about the depression and pain you are experiencing.

Clete, I guess I missed the mention of Cannabis, could you point that out? Also, depression is much more than "a form of fear." Certainly God can heal and God can strengthen but don't kid yourself, doctors, therapists and drugs are often part of the process.

It is apparent that you have not studied psychiatry or psychology. Depression is NOT a form of fear, but rather a chemical imbalance of one or more of the neurotransmitters of the brain which are Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Serotonin, Acetylcholine and/or GABA.
