I used to be a very anti-abortion person, until I was put into the situation of having an abortion. I have grown up in a christian home always being told that abortion is a sin and that I would feel terrible for the rest of my life. I dont feel bad at all and I feel that it was a smart decision for my future. I have asked god into my life and I have truly meant it. I feel so far from god right now and I dont feel wrong. I have asked for forgiveness for this occurence. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well, it sounds like you are having a crisis of faith. Most people go through this at one point or another during the course of their lives, sometimes many times during their lives. Something huge happens that makes them question. Do you have a clergyman/woman whom you have always had a good relationship with that you trust and feel you can talk to about this? This is not something that is a quick fix and you need to talk this out with someone.

I really don't think anybody believes that an abortion is a 'good' thing. While I know that many women have undergone the procedure, it's a very personal decision and no one has the right to judge someone who has gone through that. I cannot imagine how hard it is for that person--all of the 'self-judging' alone must be a terrible thing to live with. No one needs me to compound that. Besides, the judging is up to God, he knows and understands your heart better than any person does, sometimes including yourself....

Ruby is right, you are having a crisis of faith. Maybe you feel ashamed and think that pulling away from your faith will somehow insulate you, that what you're feeling won't hurt so much. Allow yourself to find faith again, and know that whatever you do God always welcomes you back, read Luke 15.
