    I would recommend I Timothy and II Timothy, St. Paul here is writing to a young person about matters of faith. Also look at Acts 16: 16--19. And Romans 12: 1--16. If you don't have a Bible, spend the money for one or at least look at your local library.

    This "advice" is given to those who already know God's love and His promise to save them from eternal wrath.

    He is telling us how to have a good life while we are still on earth. If we want to be free harmful choices, missteps, a bad conscience and low self-esteem: then we need to trust God and the directions of His Word in our life.

    If our goal is now to have an abundant life, then the more we depend on God and the less we depend on our own wisdom and understanding, the more we will attain that goal.

    That would depend on what the gift is. Would you mind letting us know what it is, or do you mean how are people to use their gifts in general?

    Thanks!

    I was raised in a Luthren church. I have not been going to church like I should because I moved out to a new area and have not found a church that I like out here yet. I am not sure what my gift is. Sometimes when I met someone something will come to me and I will tell the person what popped in my mind and it will either be something that will put their problem sin perspective. Most of the time when it happens I feel weird telling the person because it doesn't make since to me, but I always say it and they know what I am talking about. So, it is weird. For example one day I waled into my friends house and I looked at her and something told me she was pregnant with a boy. So I told her. She got mad at me because she had been trying to have a kid for 4 years. So I left and two weeks later she came to me and told me she was pregnant and she had a boy. Then one day I went to my neighbor's house and something told me that she needed someone to talk to because she was going through hard times and not to leave. I had only gone over there for a cup of sugar and so I stayed and talked for a little bit and she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer that afternoon. Weird stuff like that always happens to me. I am not sure what gift it is and even if it is a gift. Also, when I have dreams that I remember vividly (which isn't very often) they come true. It is weird.

    When I lived in a domestic violence shelter I spoke with a woman and she started speaking tounges and holding her hand over my head and after about 5 minutes she looked at me and told me that I was going to be a woman of God and that he had a lot of works for me. So, I have no idea.

    God gived us everything. He gives us life. He gives us love. He gives us everything which is good.

    And we are to use His gifts for His glory. We do this by loving our neighbor as we love ourselves. And by giving Him thanks in all we do everyday.

    As you are a musician, one should be careful not to misuse God's gift to give glory to His enemy by playing music which glorifies sin. But play only that music which brings joy and glorifies God.

    Sincerely,

    De Maria

    My opinon would be in the resource of prayer, ask God.

    Scripture shows us in ( 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 ) that no matter what this earth has given us from birth, that when we go to Our Lord in prayer , it makes a difference.

    In prayer ask that God would grant you all that He created you to be. And that it be God's hand and His will to be done. And ask for protection from evil, and that evil would bow and flee from you. In Jesus Name and glory.. Amen

    Hey, ABN. I grew up Catholic (still am, believe it or not), and also had these kind of experiences--what some folks call psychic abilities--from my childhood. It's tricky. The Bible and Christian teachings say we should believe in miracles, gifts, charisms of the Holy Spirit, so why isn't there a parochial St. Hogwarts that the Church set up to teach kids with these abilities how to use the gift God gave in His service? Very frustrating!! Anyway, I accepted the premise that people from different cultures and faith traditions were honestly expressing their experiences of the Divine, and that learning the lore of many cultures and traditions could only give me greater perspective on God's work in the world. I fervently prayed to Jesus to guide me, to let me know if I was stepping off His Way. And, hey, Lord, you know I can be pretty dense so if I get into bad stuff, tell me, and make it loud and clear, OK? Although a lot of the things I study tend to freak out my mom and some of my Christian friends, I find I do okay if I measure it against the Prayer of St. Francis: If the intention is to serve, to heal, to bring peace, to give to others without asking for return, then the fact that some of the tricks of using this gift I know are a little New Agey isn't evil in itself, as far as I can tell. Hey, if the Christians wanted people with us to learn to use our gifts without having to dabble in other traditions, they should have made a school to teach Christian magic (for lack of a better word).

    You say, "I don't know what my gift is." Yet you seem to have a good idea of at least some of the things you can do well with your gift, and you know how to use it in a way that helps others. Sounds like you're doing great! Don't worry if you don't have a name for your gift. St. Paul was just giving examples, not trying to set up an exhaustive list. God gives each of us a unique set of gifts and abilities, as unique as He made each of us. So yours is not like anyone else's who ever lived. The best you can do is to pray to God to guide you in the right use of your gift, and pray to Him to send you the right teachers, so that you can fully invest your talents and say, "See, Lord, you gave me 10, and I have made with it another 10." A couple of basic rules I'd suggest you follow: Learn to control your gift so you don't use it unintentionally in a way that invades people's privacy. And, help those who ask for help. It can be hard, sometimes, to see someone who needs help, and you want to just go help without being asked. The way you did with your friend with ovarian cancer was perfect: You sensed the need, you made yourself available, you left it up to her to open the door.

    Blessings.

    Maybe your gift is showing compassion ? That is wonderful.

    In whatever you do, if it is to love and glorify God and to love others, I believe you ccan't go wrong :)

    ANB428,
    So far you have been given some good advice.
    But I have a question.
    You say that you have not been going to Church lately because you relocated and haven't found one you liked.
    My question is how can you find one you like if you to not attend services at the local Churches?
    Next I want to provide for you a prayer that Alder mention would perhaps fit you situation and be of help.
    It is the beautiful prayer of St. Francis .
    Here it is... Pray it and use it as a guide.
    <+><+><+>
    Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

    Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
    Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    Where there is injury,pardon;
    Where there is doubt, faith;
    Where there is despair, hope;
    Where there is darkness, light;
    And where there is sadness, joy.

    O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
    To be consoled as to console;
    To be understood as to understand;
    To be loved as to love.
    For it is in giving that we receive;
    It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
    And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
