We put so much emphasis on God (not that I say that's bad in any way)..."In God We Trust" on our money, "One Nation Under God" in our pledge, etc. I was just wondering if in the bible it says on the seventh day he rested (meaning sunday), why do we consider sunday the first day of our week and not the last?

I actualyl would like to hear other's views here, as far as I can see from the Bible, the day after Sabbath should be the first day of the week, yet in christian tradition Sunday (which is normally sabbath) is also the first day. I'd like to know how this is reconciled

According to the book of Genesis, God created everything in six days. He supposedly began creating on Sunday, the first day of the week. On the seventh day, or Saturday, He rested. That became known (via the Jews) as the Sabbath, a day of rest and worship.

According to the Gospels, Jesus was crucified on a Friday and remained in the grave until Sunday morning, when He rose from the dead. Christians took the idea of the Sabbath, a day of rest and worship, and moved it to Sunday, in honor of Jesus. Sunday, the first day of the week, is a day on which Christians rest and worship God in some way and prepare for the workweek that will begin on Monday.

Speaking for myself i do trust God on everything whether its financially, healing or personal. Im amazed that some people (other christians) rather choose to take advice and put their trust in peoples opinions rather to seek the almighty's advice. Even unbelievers dont just merely believe you when you say you are a christian but your life speaks of something else

actually the seventh day was always considered Saturday, not Sunday,
Saturday was the orginal day of rest going back into the Hewbrew nation though the Jewish religion today.

Sunday as a church or religious day was done in latter years by Christians.

Sunday was the first day of the week in the Jewish culture and is a carry over into Christianity. We celebrate Christ's ressurrection on the first day of the week

There really is no day to be held as the Sabbath within Christianity. This point was addressed by the Apostle Paul:

Col 2:16-17
16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

A day of rest is important for our bodies, but in a spiritual sense, Jesus is our Sabbath rest, and the Sabbath was the Old Testament was prophetic of Jesus.

Heb 4:1-6
4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

"So I swore in My wrath,
They shall not enter My rest,"

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works"; 5 and again in this place: "They shall not enter My rest."

Who teaches that the Bible says that the seventh day ever meant Sunday?! The seventh day of the week has always been Saturday (Shabbat, actually Friday sunset to sunset Saturday). Most of Christianity took it upon themselves to worship on Sunday, which is the first day of the week. Respectfully, even the Christian believed messiah "Jesus," never taught abandonment of the Sabbath commandment. G-d's Sabbath Day remains on Saturday and no man can change that no matter the reasoning.
