My sone is 7 years old and a few times I have caught him sticking his finger up his butt-hole. The only time this happens is when he is taking a bath. I am sure he has done it more times than I have caught him but I am concerned. Should I be? When I ask him about it he told me he only does it at bath time (but I don't know for sure) and he tells me he doesn't know why he does it? Can anybody help me?

I wouldn't freak out too much right away unless it has become a habit.
Be sure to explain to him that it is dirty. If he does it when you're not around and his hands end up in his mouth it could make him sick.

It could VERY well be pinworms. When I was a child, I did this often, ESPECIALLY in the tub. I'd suggest talking to him about it, and perhaps getting pinworm medicines, as they can be VERY irritating and itchy. Also, he's probably ashamed.. I was.

I'm not trying to come off sarcastic here but there is no other way to say it.

Kids find holes and stick things in them.

Doesn't seem to matter which hole it is...

My oldest daughter though only found that hole because she was itching and had a yeast infection... of course every time she itched she went for it, but I had to explain things to her.

Your son may have found it during bath time if it itched or something. Most of the time kids don't understand why they shouldn't be doing something... especially if it feels good to them... which may be the case for your son.

On a more serious note though... if you suspect any abuse has occurred, don't shake off that feeling...

For mother's who think they know everything! My Father used to stick his middle finger down my pants when dressing are going to sleep and insert his middle finger up my rectum... Sometimes give it a wiggle... When I turned around 5, I would give him a kind of look that boldly spoke for itself letting him know ,that ,whatever you just did was not cool, and it stopped from there... I am not gay, however I do have a very strange impulse when it comes to gratification sexually... Lately, I have pondered on this so much I went to the extent of finding out why I am so sexually gratified with thinking about my rectum being touched as well as myself engaging in some sort of activity with oppissite sex fondling... It's so bad it bother's me... I know I never engaged in this growing up and thoughts don't accumulate on their own... So I managed to see a therapist an go through an extensive ongoing hypnosis therapy session... I would thumb through hundreds of family photos and repeat that over and over... It seems as though I was fondled a little more then I assumed.. Maybe even to the extent that I lied in bed with him masterbaiting and fondling his genitils... Who knows what else... My father came home to me studying my family photos and was almost in a sense very slightly raged over the fact that I was studying these albums perculiarly and asked what is it that drove me to this and what was it that I intended on learning... I just shrugged my shoulders and remained observing photos... I share this because it is so horrifying thinkng back as being so young and thinking so many sexual thoughts as early as I can rember.. Sex sex sex,constantly... after 3 or 4 it stopped... I don't know where to go with this however it gives me an understanding of why I behave the way I do...

Hey Mom, relax. To give you a heads up, little boys will try things out. They will do just what your son is doing. They will look at there friends privates. They will have pee contest with there friends. So on that subject, you will be surprised at what little boys will do.

Take it from a different direction, ask him is he having any pain or iching. He is going to say NO but look at his face and see if he is lying. If his face says "no" or "Im embarrassed" then let it alone. He is going through his "little boy" stage.
