Parental Rights are the rights of the biological parent to have a say in the rearing of a child. Giving up those rights means you lose any input into the child's upbringing.

Custody is a different matter. Custody refers to who the child will live with. Full custody means being a full time parent. A parent can have full custody but allow visitation, even overnight visitiations.

By the way, giving up parental rights does not necessarily mean you no longer have financial responsibility.

Thanks Scott but I would prefer to do it now and get it over with. I have no problem with being held responsible for the financial obligation but I feel this decision is best for all involved.
