child abuser

I have a 6 year old boy and we just had a graduation party for him from kindergarten and my husbands twin brothers wife punched and pushed my 6 year old son for no reason i called the cops and they did nothing they told me it was a misteminer. what i don't understand is why when one adult hits an other they get arrested. why was she not arrested she is a 26 year old ex-marine. the cop told me it was assult and battery. to me that sounds like it should be a felony. is there anything can do now to press charges now that 1 week has passed?

Go to the officer’s boss.

If that doesn’t work, you can try higher up in the police department or your local district attorney.

make sure and photo all of the bruises. Most likely the police officers don't believe it happened, or was just playing around.

In some states misdemeanors the officer does not see happen they can't arrest but you could go down to the DA and press charges normally.

But be sure as noted and call the shift supervisor on this.

Are you telling us this woman made a fist and punched and pushed your son for no reason? While there is no excuse for punching a child, I find it hard to believe that a normal adult would just haul off and hit a kid like that. So I have to suspect that there is more to this story.

Were there any witnesses to what happened?

Chuck,
That's part of why I think there is a lot more to this story.

As the others have posted there seems to be more to this than meets the eye !!

There is no way on this earth that this person would be coming any where near my kids again, plus I think my actions would have been the same as Fr_Chuck they would have been waken up in hospital.

yes there is more than meets they eye. the graduation party was a pool party and my son had been swimming and thought it would be funny to give this woman who is supposed to be his aunt a hug and get her wet which is really not a very good reason to me she came to a pool party. that's when she punched him. she is my husbands twin brothers wife who is very jealous of are kids cause she can't have any of her own so she hates are kids!

Do you have witnesses that she threw an actual punch? Or maybe she just shoved his wet body away?

I assume that she was not dressed in a bathing suit. Did you ever try to show some sensitivity to her? You have kids, did you ever stop to think how you would feel about kids if you couldn't have any? Did it ever occur to you to explain to your son that auntie doesn't get on well with kids so they should steer clear of her?

Again, I think there is still more to this story. I don't condone punching a child, but if I were in street clothes and some kid tried to get me wet, I would push him away. I suspect the cops, who were told more of the story, realized more of this matter and felt it wasn't worth an arrest.
