Father's rights

I had a child with someone that I have been with for years. We lived together then and still do. I am on the birth certificate as the childs father and has my last name. I take care of all the bills and has the child on my insurance. If we go our seperate ways, can she keep me from my child.

You'd have to go through the courts to have visitation ordered.

She can try, but its not likely. You would have to file in family court for joint custody with visitation rights.

unless she can prove that you are not a stable person in court. no, she can't keep you from him. my recommendation would be to file for joint custody, and also get it to where you can take turns filing taxes on him every other year. that is one thing we highly regret here at our home. my hubby has a son from a previous relationship....and we battle a lot over the tax thing.

best of luck~
