What should I do next doctor will not help
I have had a headache for the past 4 weeks I went to see my doctor said it's a typical teen headache and after one more week I got really concered as it started to get worser and worse so I decided I would ask for a ct scan Im 15 years of age by the way and my mom thinks I'm being stupid I had to go to the doctors the first time on my own. So after the 5 weeks I wrote to the doctor asking for a ct scan to be arranged he said I can't do that as I don't thinks its needed but when did he become an expert as a neruologoist what should I do next as it continues to get worse

I am sure you probably don't need a CT scan, and they are VERY expensive.

You should go back to the doctor if it is unrelieved by over-the-counter meds like tylenol and tell him where it hurts, what kind of pain it is (stabbing, throbbing, burning, etc) and let him know that it is continually getting worse.

Also, when was the last time you had your eyes checked?

Do you have any allergies? Some allergies manifest themselves with headaches.

Oh, yes, this can definitely cause what you are describing. It does sound as though you may have eye strain and may either need glasses, or not spend so much time on your psp.

Hun, I am reasonably sure it is not a brain tumor. Many kinds of brain tumors do not have symptoms. Brain tumors are not as common as you would think. Does anyone in your family have a history of brain tumors? If not, you can cross this off your list of worries. ;)

Headaches at your age are very common because your hormones are gearing up for adulthood as well as other chemicals in your body. I don't think I know one teenager who has not had a series of headaches growing up. It is very very common and very very normal.

Sweetie, you are NOT stupid. Actually this is a very common concern among kids your age.

    Here is one such concern.

And another one, just to name a few.

So, again you are NOT stupid, and no one should ever call you stupid!!

Grrr, it makes me mad when parents say things like this to their children!!

I think you should relax first off.Worring can cause a headache just like sleeping with your head the wrong angle, posture, not enough sleep, noise. Many things can cause headaches and since you are 15 it could be all those crazy horomones. You are NOT stupid.:D

Hi there, well I would suggest that is your continual worrying that is causing you more stress thus causing you more headaches maybe the underlying cause could be your eyes, this is perhaps just something that you could check out, if you get nowhere with this do not let it lie tell your doctor how stressed you are because the worry is making you worse but please believe me that your headaches are probably just caused through stress it is a vicious circle, what you have to do is look at your life and work out what is causing you stress apart from this and try to solve it bit by bit, your age alone is awkward, it is when you are between childhood and adulthood and not totally sure of your own feelings, I remember that age clearly and I was stressed so much as were many of my friends, hope this helps you but please try hard not to worry, I know it is difficult but don't forget we are all here for you so if you do have worries that are causing your stress then ask for our help as our help or experiences may well be able to help you, even people on here that are your own age may be able to tell you they have the same feelings. The bottom line is communication, talk to us if no one else at least we may help relieve the stress a little. Take care, love and peace anne x
