    finger-nails yellow?
    Hello,

well.. my finger-nails are a kind of yellow-ish color, just at the tips where you would cut them,if you know where I am lol... if not, the non-pink bit lmao.

I do wear nail polish/varnish/paint ( whatever you call it) a lot, I've asked my mum about it and she said that I should keep it off for a while to let my nails 'breathe'

if any-one can help me with this and tell me what to do, I'll be very thankful =D

    thank you for reading/Helping

Your mom is right. A lot of people who wear nailpolish constantly get yellowing.

This could also be a medical condition though.

Yellow fingernails (if not from the nail polish) can possibly mean:

Yellow: Bleeding, diabetes, digestive problems, liver disease, hyperthyroidism, too much carrot juice, lymphatic problems, nail fungus, poor circulation, respiratory problems, Vitamin E deficiency, fluid retention in the lymphatic system.

Just a thought,, do you smoke? If so, do you smoke A lot. Believe it or not, cigerettes will turn your finger nails yellow over time. Like I said, just a thought from a friends personal experience. I would guess it works kind of like the yellowing of the teeth from too much smoking. Only the smoke from the cig is getting on your nails (and hands and everything else) also. Not judging, I'm a smoker.(hope to quit,, someday.lol)

Is there any science behind this, or was my friend told that his nails were yellow just to get him to quit smoking?

I don't smoke... use to smoke weed for a month or so but that was about 4 months ago, I've never touched another cigarette after that. Reason because I threw up my stomach content and passed out and woke back up in hospital a couple of days later.

thanks again for help, I think its only the nail polish staining it, cos... if it isn't that thing on the site u told me.. all my finger nails are yellow =/

but only the tips, not the whole nail, like the white bit that your trim to keep them short.. that bit..

If you wear bright colored fingernail polish you will find that it will discolor your nails to a yellowish color. Same with toenails.

You can try buffing them, or using denture tablets.

If it were just one or two nails then you may be looking at something different. However, I think you will find that my answer above will take care of the problem. Also, make sure you always use a base coat with darker pigmented colors. It will also keep your polish from chipping as well. Also, overlap the polish onto the edges will keep your nails from chipping.

    I hope this helps. :>)
