Okay, 14... Yes, it is now time to contact your doctor. Please understand dear that we cannot diagnose you over the internet since we cannot conduct a complete history and physical exam, but it is time to seek the advice of a professional.

My doctor is a man and I'm kind of uncomfortable talking to him about this kind of thing.

Um, is there a woman doctor in the practice? Maybe a Nurse Practitioner?

I totally understand that you feel uncomfortable. This is not unusual, very common actually. Just try and understand that the doctor went through MANY years of medical training and nothing you say will shock him. He is used to these things, he is trained to fix the problems you are going through.

One thing that might help is to have your mother talk to him. She is probably used to male doctors. Most likely he will not need to do a pelvic exam, unless you are sexually active.

Just talk to your Mom and have her do the talking for you.

Well, I would not say that it is urgent in that you have to go to the Emergency Room, but yes, it is urgent that you get this taken care of. You are losing blood, that is not good. You could be becoming anemic, that is not good.

So, it is urgent in that you need to get into the doctor, but not so that you have to go to the ER.

That is why we are here dear. I have a 13 year old girl, and that is what I would do if my daughter were going through this.
