Higher than 7 is a base, lower than 7 is an acid.
If a liquid is solid, that just means it's frozen. So: water = liquid, ice = solid.

Well, I wouldnt say frozen. You wouldnt say that steel is frozen - but it is still solid

Alkaline and base mean the same thing.

the pH scale is a way of quantifying the concentration of H+ ions in solution. It stands for "puissance d'hydrogen" or "power of hydrogen"

Reiss101 agrees: Because I now know that Alkalies and Bases are the same :)

Sorry, just have to clear this up.

Although "Alkali" and "Base" are often used interchangably, not all bases are alkaline.

For example, Ammonia is not an alkali, but is a base.

However, all alkalis ARE basic, it's just that not all bases are alkaline.

Got it?
