how do i add a new line to my cellular plan?

hey everyone i have at n t and i want to add a other line but then i have to do another 2 year contract is there a way where i dont have to do the contract. cuz i need the phone as soon as possible so should i jus wait till my contract is over. so i need to know if there is a way where i can get a cell phone with out doing the contract?
