i have two cell phones, both of them are the nokia 3390. one is an att/cellular phone, which broke (but the reception was really poor), and the other, new one is for t-mobile.

i understand that these two phones are probably on different frequencies. after a little research, i found that the two frequency ranges supported by the US are: 850 and 1900 MHz. does this mean that my two phones are within these two ranges, respectively? or am i way off base. ???

i am trying to determine which carriers each phone can handle, provided i fix the broken one, and decide to use it in the future with another carrier.

It sounds like your phone is on the GSM network. GSM providers vary by area but the most common are Cingular/AT&T, and TMobile. You should be able to roam onto another carrier's signal, but depending on your voice plan, you may be charged.

My TMobile phone can roam on Cingular's network for free.
