problems with cell phone. DOESNT say how in user manual

how do i delete them? when i go to send a text, i can view all of them.
i have a samsung
sgh-t629

ALSO, can you put this phone on silent? i have not found away yet.I can for the text messages though..

AND...
how does the mp3 work?
