DVD Writer

Hi!
I have a DVD Writer that can read dvd's but my problem is when I want to burn to it.
It does not see the DVD-R (blank) in it.
It's an HP 300n DVD/CD-RW.
I updated the drivers and I reinstalled.
The connection to the motherboard I believe are like a normal cd-rom.(power cable and the cable that connects to the motherboard.
Not sure if there should be another cable to it.
I tried 3 different software (Windows ,WinDVD Suite ,Record Now).

Not sure about this one, but there could be a number of reasons for this.

2 things I would suggest, try the HP website, it's always been helpful for me, and they also have fairly quick Tech Support email replies to questions.

And the above website is excellent for help on Burners.
