My drive plays dvds but not cds or cd roms

My acer aspire 5610z will play dvds without a problem but if i try to play a cd or cd-rom it wont even regester how do i fix this and get it to read them again?

Try loading the drivers again for the hardware. Hopefully that should fix the problem. If it does not then your driver is gone and will need to be replaced.
