connections for dvd recorder to dvr

HELP! HELP! i have a dvd recorder that i want to connect to my cable dvr.i have triedvarious hook ups and all i get is a scarmbled picture no sound.my tv is an older model with no s video.i need answers in plain terms. iam electronically challanged.i know this can be done,i had it hooked up before but didn't write it down and CAN'T remember.PLEASE HELP ME THANKS

Connect the dvd recorder between the cable box and your tv using appropriate cables (RCAs red, yellow and white) to the corresponding colors.

So you cable box RCA output to DVD recorder RCA input. Then recorder RCA outputs to TV's RCA inputs.
