CD-ROM drives do not usually read DVD discs. Upgrade your drive to a DVD variant, preferably with a MultiRead logo. Generally:
CD-ROM Drives...- Read CD-ROM and CD-Audio discs.
CD-RW Drives...- Read CD-ROM and CD-Audio discs.
- Read/Write CD-R and CD-RW discs.
DVD-ROM Drives...- Read CD-ROM, CD-Audio, DVD-ROM, and DVD-Audio discs.
DVD+-RW drives...- Read CD-ROM, CD-Audio, DVD-ROM, and DVD-Audio discs.
- Read/Write CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+-R, DVD+-RW, and perhaps DVD-RAM discs.
