| | | Cd ROM not reading disks -_- I've been playing Diablo 2 LOD for awhile now and just the other day, when trying to open the shortcut it said:
"Diablo II was unable to locate your CD-ROM drive. Please make sure your Diablo II expansion disk is in your CD-ROM drive, then click retry":(
This has come up before but mainly only when the CD isn't in the CD-ROM. But It's in there now and it won't read it. I borrowed a Diablo II LOD CD from a friend and the same thing happens. When the disk goes it, it doesn't spin or read or do anything. I can't hear anything being done.
I put in "Black & White Deluxe" and it still doesn't read. I assume this is a problem with the CD-ROM but maybe there's something else to be done.
Also, when I click "My Computer" the Icon doesn't show up saying there's Anything in the Drive.
I have provided a picture of it although I doubt it will be very much help... | | | | | | |

| Is it at all possible that your drive letters have changed? Can you read anything from that CD drive? |

| Did your previous hard drive have any partitions? I'm leaning towards the letters having changed i.e. your Diablo installation points to soemthing like F: but now your CD drive is E:. |

| No we didn't have any partitions on the old drive, but I've been playing on the new drive up until 4 days ago. How would I go about checking to see if the installation points to the correct Drive? And how/why would it have changed. My moms home for lunch from work So I'll see your reply afterwards and try it out
Could I try re-installing it into the C: Drive or back into the D:?? |

Pay to call Curlyben for advice ($1/min) | If it only started recently, have you tried doing a system restore to when it worked ? |

| Hey back...I just realized when I put in any Cd it spins but very quietly and nothing happens..Normally it'll be loud and a screen pops up asking what it wants me to do or w/e, but nothing...So it spins, but doesn't read I assume...But even with a music CD in, there is no icon under "my computer" that indicates the presence of a CD...
I'm not to sure what system restore does...will it wipe off any of the new stuff we did?...Then again it was only in the past 4 days so not much has really changed... |

| Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't there be a CD-ROM icons under my computer ANYways?
I always thought there was a separate icon for the disk drive even if there was nothing there.... |

| You're right, there should be a CDROM icon. Did you replace a hard drive of add a new one? If you added a new one to the same IDE cable as the CDROM then your issue is most likely a Master/Slave problem. |
