CD DVD drive partially not working

okay so when i put a dvd in it works when i put a game disk in or a music disk it doesnt work ive uninstalled it and let the computer reinstall it anddd its still not working any other ideas? i do not have the system reboot disk so thats not an option!

We will assume the dvd drive works if you can play movies. If the game doesnt play, check the game cd. it may be a bad disk. if you are not getting sound from music cd's, check if your audio cable is plugged into the back of the cd drive and the sound card.

please check this link for some info, it does resolve issues with cd roms having problems with not reading some cds. It will do no harm to your pc or programs installed.Even if you do not have the errors that are mentioned, it often fixes the cd rom issue
