CD drive not in BIOS but is in MY Computer

Hi,
I'm new to forums but would really appreciate some help.
I've recently installed a new version of Windows XP SP2 on a Hi-Grade Notino R5400 given to me by a friend. I inserted CD into drive and it booted up from CD and installed no problem. The problem is now that it will no longer boot from CD and my drive is not detected in BIOS yet it shows up in My computer and works fine. Wondered if anybody had come across this problem and had any suggestions.
Thanks a lot.

How do you have your boot order set up?

You need to get into the set up menu, and set the boot order to CD Drive first, and hard drive second.

If that doesn't work, you may need to find the brand and model number for your CD drive and find a way to download the driver to a disc from another computer if you can't get on line with this one, and then install it from the disc.

Hi,

Thanks for your quick resposne. The option in BIOS to boot to CD has gone, It used to be HDD and CD drive but now in BIOS the only option is HDD. Really odd. The cd drive is working absolutely fine in Windows.

Sounds like you did a good install, hopefully someone else will have some idea of what is going on.
