Why did my cat die?

For a week my cat, Zena, has been foaming of the mouth, nose, and eyes and has been having difficult breathing. She has just recently healed from a broken toe and was perfectly fine after that. We were going to take her to the vet when the symtoms occured but just a week later i found my beloved cat dead on my office chair. I loved her so much and i want to know what this disease was and how she got it. I need to know if it is contagous before letting my dog or my other cat into the house. I put her body in a plastic sealed bag and threw her in a sealed dumpster. I did not burry her so the cyotes would dig her up and spread the awful sickness. I am scared and i feel terrible. Please help me figure out what this disease is.

Perhaps rabies. I hear that is one of the symptoms of rabies is foaming.

And you can take a deceased pet to the vet, and they can take care of that. I definitely wouldn't have recommended throwing your pet into a dumpster.

bushg agrees: true if it goes to a landfill all types of animals will have access to it.

I am sorry you went thru this.
You would have been better off to have called animal control or the health department and they wold have probably tested it.
In my area it is illegal to put animals in the dumpster. I am not condeming you for it , I know you were doing it to keep other animals safe. You may want to check with the officals if you ever need to dispose of another animal.
