Please be patient. We are all volunteers here and the volunteer expert for the cat's category may not be online at the moment. It can take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple days to get a response.

There's really no way for us to give you that closure. There are so many possibilities here. The cats could have gotten lost, stolen, hit by a car, trapped, eaten by another animal, etc. etc.

There's just no way for us to know what happened, any more than you do.

I'm sorry. I wish we could say "Oh, they did this and that, and they're in this location", but we can't. It's simply not possible.

I wish you all the best.

I'm guessing your cats were killed and maybe eaten by another animal. In my quiet neighborhood near Chicago, there are coyotes, the occasional stray dog who got out from his fence, and raccoons, all of which love to chase and even snack on cats. Or kind neighbors thought they were strays and adopted them.

There is no reason not to keep your cats indoors. I have a very small house with three people in it. My four cats are strays (maybe one or more is yours, if you live near me) who came to my front door begging for food and safety. Once I took them in and made sure they weren't sick, they are always inside my house and NEVER go outdoors.
