Sick Kitten

Hi there, I have just bought a small kitten, its a farm cat which is about 3 month old. We only had it for 3 days, it does seem to have infected eyes and even though it ate lots of kitten food the first day it was a little sick yesterday and it wont eat at all today, it has had some water and is fine in itself. I am bit worried as I have only very recently moved to Glasgow and rely on friends to take me to the vet as I dont know where they are. How long do you think one can wait if the kitten does not eat?

I would wait no more than a couple of days. With my cats if they don't eat 1 day the next day if I see that they are not interested in food, I take them to the vet..
Barn cats have other cats that are in the food bowl with them, so it may have never gotten its fill . Usually farmers limit the amount of food so that the cats will want to kill rodents as well and since it has been with you it could have eaten its fill, so that may be the only problem with the eating.

With this being a barn cat surely it needs some vaccines. There could be more going on than an infected eye and it probably needs wormed.

You can try to feed it with an eyedropper. We had gotten a farm cat and he had horribly infected eyes, tons of fleeas and eventually we found out he even had a virus. We cleaned out his eyes everyday with coloidal (sp?) silver to get rid of the infection, I know you can get that at health food stores, and you can put it in the water to battle the infection (it won't hurt them) and you can also put some pau d'arco (also at the health/vitamin store) in their water to battle infection. Check to see if the cat has lesions on the tongue, if it does, it won't eat. Hope this helps!
