cat's eyes wont open

when i got home tonight, i realized my 10 month old kitten cannot open his eyes, one of them is completley shut and unable to open, the other he can barely open and cannot keep it open. i read on another site i can lightly wash over the eyelid with saline and a cotton ball, is this true and what type of saline?? i will take him to the vet tom. i dont think he needs immediate care. there is no pus or gunk build up no crusties or anything! he just cant open them!

Assuming they will not open due to pus and not swollen or something you can even use warm water and cotton balls and keep dabbing the warm water until you can gently wipe the pus build up off.
