| I had an old neutered Tom for 7 years before I found another female kitten, he was used to being the king, at first he hated it, he was extremely mean to other cats that came around our house fighting and chasing them away. This is how I handled introducing them. I would keep the baby in a seperate room and let him go to the door and sniff it. sometimes I would put the kitten in a carrier and bring it out with the entire family including tom..we would give him special treats and pet him ( so he would associate good things with the new kitty) also when he would eat I would sit by him and hold the kitten. ( so he could see his food was not in danger) In about a week I started letting the kitten down when he was around, he would not go after the kitten, but if it came to him he would hiss and try to slap it, this went on for about 2 months. This was 3 years ago, they have never been great friends ( tom is not an animal loving cat) but he accepts them now, also I bring in alot of strays to re-home and now he just accepts that as life and we rarely have any problems. This has also helped him to be nicer to outside cats less fighting and less vet bills. Good luck it will all work out |
