Please help! My cat is constipated despite laxatives

My cat has been having problems with constipation for a couple of weeks now. He is having a bowel movement (small) ever two or three days, and now hasn't had one in two days, as of this morning. As per vet and reading in mags, I've given him mineral oil, pumpkin, and olive oil (this latter did result in one small movement two days ago). It's the weekend and the Vets are not "in" in this area, I'm not sure how much of any of these I should be giving him (I keep on increasing them but find myself afraid to increase them any more.) I'm also wondering if I should stop feeding him? His belly is big though he seems to be find socially and otherwise, and is urinating.
(P.S. What is "polling" as mentioned at the bottom of the post page?)
