My cat will not sleep with me anymore!
My cat whom slept with me every night and if I took naps and my son's cat whom would sometimes come to sleep on my bed at night and even during the day would take naps on my bed... the both of them no longer want to come to my room even!

They both only stay in the living room on the couch or chairs and the room that has their food.

They both had a very bad flea infestation this summer. That sure cost me the bucks! Well since that all went down... they only like to sit with my son on his chair with him and sometimes they both even sit with him... and they barebly tolerate each other!

The couple of times I placed my cat on my bed, she jumped down and went back to the living room.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with those two?

Other than I think cats are quirky, I have no idea. Is it warmer/cooler in the "new place" and that's why they go there?

Every now and then my dogs go totally out of their usual routine and it lasts a little while and then we go back to how things were.

    Cats - I don't know.

There's something making them not want to hang out in your room anymore. No way for me to guess what that is, but since you mention the flea infestation, that's one clue. What did you do to combat that? I also agree with Judy Kay it could be a change in season or temperature or something like that. They do have routines, so once they get out of a routine, they don't go back easily. You could make the living room less comfortable if you really want them to sleep on your bed. I can't keep my cats OFF my bed! :) And I found out I'm allergic to my own cats... so I'm supposed to.

It could be the weather. I can always tell the season changes, because one cat of mine will sleep with me during the colder weather, but not the hot weather. Every year like clockwork she migrates from the bed to the cat tree and back.

I like the phrase "migrate." I have dogs so every night I have a combined dog weight of over 225 pounds getting off the bed. Getting on the bed. Pushing each other so they have more room. Getting off the bed. Wandering around and flopping down - my dogs sort of just unlock their knees and drop to the floor with a crash.

They're warm so they wander off. They're cold so they wander back.

I wonder why I have dark circles under my eyes.

I don't know if cats do "this" but my dogs sort of "snuff" me to see if I'm awake and/or breathing and/or something -

Ha! One of my cats snuffs us just like that. He also puts his head down and butts me, burrowing into my chest, or between my arm and my body. After that, he usually settles down and will cuddle for hours if I stay there--like if I'm sick.

But all this activity, plus the two cats chasing each other all over the house at 2 am is why I decided when they where kittens that they would have their own "bedroom" at night. I give them each a pet bed downstairs and lock them up each night. It's fun to cuddle with them during the day sometimes, but at night I need some sleep.

They are used to this arrangement. They each get 3 treats every night when they go to bed, so they come running when I say it's time for bed at 9 pm. In fact, they often come to remind me that it's time for them to go to bed. One of them tries to get me to put him to bed at 8 and I have to tell him that it's not time yet... He has a treat dependency problem.

Hi cats love to play especially when its raining outside they crack up lol, Try playing with your cats on the bed with a piece of string wrapped wround some crunched up paper also screw up some bunches of paper and let the cats play with them on the bed the cats will get use to the play area and eventually start to sleep there.
    HOPE THIS HELPS. CHRIS.

Hi, this is swirlgirl... thanks for all your input... but I have lived here in the Midwest for 5 years now. I have had both the cats through all the seasons for those 5 years... so don't think it is a change of seasons?

I had the cat shots, Frontline, and potent flea spray that were used for the infestation.. my advice to anyone with cats... my cats NEVER had fleas.. TO GET AND USE FRONTLINE EVERY MONTH! It is expensive, but it is not as expensive nor miserable as a flea infestation. The term flea-bitten has a whole new meaning to us! We did not have fleas the other 4 years I lived here in the Midwest... and not the past 10 before that I lived in Southern California... this has been a strange summer here... more bugs, and more bugs I have never seen, or knew existed have shown up...

One may never know why cats do all the things they do... but I do thank you all for your time and concern... Best Regards to you all!
