    Ammonia cat urine
    Hey there

Quick question ~ I am a new cat owner (1 yr) and I have a sweet loving male neutered cat (Sir Chiggy) and I have just noticed over the past week that his urine smells very strong of ammonia. Never has before! To the point that my eyes water. Is this normal? Possibility of a UTI? He is eating, drinking and playing normal.

    Any info. would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Cat urine is strong, which is why I sprinkle a whole box of baking soda into the bottom of the litter tray when I reset it. But since you've noticed a specific change unexplained by new food, etc, if I were you I would be making an appointment with a vet just to be certain it isn't something serious. Much easier to nip something in the bud, especially with cats.
