White smoke under the hood of my car
I was driving to work today and when I arrived, and put the car in park, I noticed that I had white smoke coming from underneath the hood of my car. I have a 2000 Infiniti I30. Can anyone tell me what this might be and how much I may end up paying to fix it? I just purchased the car used. Also, the temperature thingy didn't go up to HOT, so I don't know. It was just normal... right in the middle of hot and cold. Please advise...

I get this occasionally, its usually condensation and shows up after driving the car for a bit on wet or humid days.
P.S. you need to be careful what forum you post in. The Arts & Leisure forum is hardly the place for this. I've requested it be moved.

Likely a blown top radiator hose. Get this fixed before driving or you could warp the aluminum head, resulting in a $2,000 repair bill to machine the head and repair damaged valves. Have the car towed, if necessary.

How much do you think the blown hose will cost?

If this is what indeed all that is wrong, $15 for the hose. Make sure you can see the split or whatever--it may be something else, but this is a very common item to fail. Usually, the top radiator hose is hotter and under greater pressure than the lower radiator hose.

I have a Craftsman lawn tractor with a 17 hp OHV Briggs model #311707-0132-E1. I seems to run fine until I start mowing. The added pressure on the engine from the cutting is creating a huge cloud of white smoke. It stops as soon as I stop the blades and put it in neutral. I assume oil is getting...

I'd like to try and find a few episodes... :)

I bought a new Jenn-Air hood (JXT5830) to install over the range in my kitchen. I then connected the wires as per the instructions, but none of the front lights or functions worked. The company is the worst imaginable-- no help at all to installers, so I must rely on my friends here. I connected...
