' 95 Oldsmobile Aurora Transmission

The transmission of my Olds Aurora was slipping so badly that it hardly moved. My wife then told me that she had had problems with the auto on headlights the previous day. I then went out to the car and played with the light switches and put the car in gear. In both reverse and drive it seemed to engage and with the brakes applied I rev'd the engine and found that there was no transmission slip. Is there an electrical connection to the torque converter or something that could cause the slipping I'm experiencing?
