TXgreasemonkey gave me an answer (thanks) but I'm still have problems. I'm lining up the timing chain sprocket and crank shaft sprocket. The are lined up dot to dot - the timing chain is at 6:00 and the crank shaft is at 12:00. The #1 piston is at top dead center. When I install the distribtuor, the pointer that's supposed to point at #1 spark plug terminal points in between the #1 and #3 terminal - I turned it back one tooth and it points between #1 and #5 terminal - what's the problem? How can I get it right?

The bottom of the distributor drives the oil pump. The slot on the oil pump shaft is not lined up with the distributor. Take a long shaft screwdriver and turn the oil pump clockwise a bit, so it lines up.
