If you are in the US I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as a1999 Ford Falcon. Maybe a 1969. I'm guessing the a stop switch is the brake light switch that turns on the taillights during braking. If you lay on your back and look up at the brake pedal arm you should see two wires and a small switch. When the pedal is depressed the arm moves away from the switch and opens the circuit. When replacing this switch you will need to adjust the height of the switch so it makes good contact when your foot is off the pedal.
