Starter on a Ford Taurus

Can someone tell me is there a way to get your starter to work so I can get my car home or to a garage. I know its the starter because I dont even get a click with it when i turn the key and my battery is still very strong. Is there not a way to bang the starter to get it to go? Please help cause you know being a female I will get taken in all areas.

Sincerely,
Christine

Well if the starter isn't totally fried, and yes you're right it probably is, about your only hope is to try to tap on the side of the starter motor housing with a hammer but not really hard, this might free up the gear to come out if it is sticking.Another possibility is the wires to the solenoid could be loose or corroded not allowing it to kick the gear out. If you decide to check the wire connections make sure to disconnect battery cables first,if you don't you'll have fireworks again on the 5th. Good luck !

Thank you very much Tx. I ended up getting my car towed today and it is the starter so I pick it up tomorrow after work. Thanks so much U2 for trying to assist me.
