Smelly Air Conditioning

i have purchased a used 2001 dodge ram 1500 2 wd... tried the air conditioning and not only does it not blow cold, but it also smells very musty / moldy, kinda like a wet basement in an old house. need to get the air conditioning fixed and will try to recharge first...however, i need to get rid of that smell before i move forward...is there a good product or method i should use to get rid of the smell?

ask your dodge dealer where the cabin air filter is located and change it, also spray air intake for a/c with javex or similar bleach to kill mold and mildew. Also do not smoke in your vehicle as this will also make a/c smell. Hope this helps you
