No power to 99 Chevy Cavalier, what could it be?

I was driving my 99 Chevy Cavalier yesterday when the battery light came on while driving to work. When I was almost there, all of the lights on the dashboard came on- The battery, breaks, ABS, check engine, check oil lights....and my winshield wipers, turning signals, radio all lost power. The dashboard was flicking on and off (meaning my speedometer, mileage, what gear I was in, and the temperature of my car), and it felt like the car was going to die. Luckily I made it to the parking lot, but after I turned my car off, it wouldn't start. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? I just had my serpenitine belt replaced on monday, and not even 3 days later this happens. Any comments would be highly appreciated.

Begin by inspecting the both battery cable connections. The positive terminal on side post batteries has a tendency to fail during usage and can cause the symptoms you're describing. Be careful, because if it has failed there may be acid leaking as well. If that checks to be good, the charging system should be inspected and tested.
